Team Activ were privileged to organise a strategy and team away day for Together Women Project last week. The themes for the day were wellbeing and worklife balance and we designed the sessions to focus on communication, collaboration and growing deeper relationships as the team don’t often have the opportunity to spend the day as one group.
The Together Women Project moves women out of crime and into positive futures by working with them to build resilience and develop strengths that enable them to move away from damaging lifestyles in safe women-only spaces. The team operate services throughout Yorkshire and Humberside and the day brought together team members from bases in Bradford, Hull, Leeds and Sheffield, and outreach services for women in Keighley, Lincoln and New Hall prison.
We kicked off the morning activities with some mini challenges, working together as teams to defeat the ‘baddies’ to win as many points as possible to win a mindfulness goody bag. The teams had fantastic fun trying to solve the puzzles, especially on the ‘Lasso of Hoop’ activity which involved manoeuvring 3 different hula hoops around the team without breaking a chain! We focussed the rest of morning on wellbeing and worked in small groups to set some personal and team goals based on the 5 Ways to Wellbeing: Connect, Be Active, Keep Learning, Take Notice & Give.
During the afternoon, teams were sent out on a scavenger hunt mission to find various natural items around the beautiful grounds of Weetwood Hall, Leeds. The hunt was followed by some work on resilience and a craft activity where teams created their own representation of resilience for their group. There was some wonderful sculptured pieces presented at the end of the afternoon.
Thank you for Together Women for teaching us so much about your work and about life – we thoroughly enjoyed designing your day and working with you.
